that summer will never come again

2021

as poetess viivi luik wrote: “that summer will never come again...”

photographed over the course of the summer of 2021, knowing it would be the last for the flock of sheep as they would be sent to be slaughtered. some of them were only born that same spring.
once again i spent most of summer at my childhood home in kanepi, where every summer feels like the last.

for them it was the first and the last summer; for me it was simply june, july and august all over again

but that’s how every summer is: i say goodbye in order to return, to be again, to mourn once more as i leave
